Real Action In Rancho Mirage

THE DRIVE: Over the years, Rancho Mirage has been home to Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers... and Agua Caliente Casino. Pass the famous Windmill forest and you're almost there!
THE PARKING: Expect ample parking in a well organized covered garage.
THE CASINO: The casino is being expanded so check back for a new review in 2009!
The current Aqua Caliente Casino is beautiful and easy to navigate because it's one HUGE room. Don't expect many penny slots, most are .2 cents and up. But they have a nice variation of slots and boast more Keno machines than most in the area. Non-smokers will love that nearly half the casino is non-smoking. It can get a bit crowded at peak times because it is loved by the locals (with so many casinos to choose from in the area that says a lot!)
Agua Caliente has a great selection of tables, if you're a table lover you must check it out. In fact, they were the only casino that offered one of our favorite table games, Carribean Stud Poker. Sadly, on our last trip, they no longer had it... let's hope they bring it back!
JACKPOT STORY: One night we went into the high limit room and everyone pitched in a twenty to play a three coin $5 slot machine. On our last pull we hit triple bars all the way across and won around $1200.
THE FOOD: The buffet is open late and worth a last minute visit before you hit the road!
THE HOTEL: Agua Caliente is currently expanding to include a brand new hotel. We'll check it out as soon as we can.
THE ODDS: With a bankroll averaging $300, we've left up more often than not. Also, our friends who live in the area have had big wins on Keno.
THE PAYLINE: Forget any other Rancho Mirage activities (which are pretty much limited to golfing and the Betty Ford Center). You'll have way more fun at Agua Caliente Casino!

Agua Caliente is a hop, skip and a jump from L.A.
Here’s what I love about Agua Caliente: it’s a hop, skip and a jump from L.A. (120 miles door to door ), so I can get in my car and within two hours, I’m sitting at a Keno machine. It’s also five miles from my favorite Rancho Mirage resident and partner in crime, actress Kaye Ballard.
The Agua Caliente showroom, “The Show at Agua Caliente”, is both large and intimate. The 2028 seats allow big audiences. However, the furthest seat from the stage is only 125 feet. And if that’s not intimate enough for you, then two large screens project the action larger than life. It’s a multi-functional venue done in Colors of the Desert in Bloom (greens, yellows, and browns). The floor seats are removable for boxing rings (or maybe one day they’ll have room for lion cages or big tanks of David Blaine’s water.)
And boxes are available on all of the four levels. If you want to have a party, you can book up to fourteen seats in a private suite – two hundred dollars each, which you could easily make if you win just one coverall game of Bingo.
Upcoming shows are big, big, big and so diverse. The Doobie Brothers, Martin Short, Cheap Trick (whad’ja call me?), Cindi Lauper, and Chelsea Handler to name a few. Maybe you’ll see me there for one of my fave rockers, Melissa Ethridge. Then there’ll be Jay Leno, who’s there in June, unless he moves time slots again (what? I can be topical!).
Agua Caliente is a great entertainment destination. Play cards, have dinner, go to a show. It’s so much fun I’m beside myself: there are two of me!

They have a wide variety of table games including 3 card poker which is a favorite of mine. Large room with expansions happening due to new hotel opening. Can't wait to see the new hotel when it is complete. Sometimes hard to get cocktail service at both tables and the machines. Overall it's worth the short trip down Ramon from down town Palm Springs. It's one of my favorite spots.

Rancho Mirage, Ca (July 7, 2010) – Gaming industry veteran Brian Hansberry has been hired as General Manager at Agua Caliente Casino, Resort, Spa, a Four-Diamond property in Rancho Mirage, California.
Hansberry comes to Agua Caliente with more than 30 years of gaming experience. He began his career in the late 1970s as a crap dealer at Resorts International, the first casino to open outside Nevada. Since then, he has become an icon in East Coast gaming operations. Hansberry has held executive positions at Atlantic City casinos for much of his career, and was selected as one of the "25 People to Watch" by Global Gaming Business magazine.
Hansberry most recently was President and CEO for the Seneca Gaming Corporation headquartered in Niagara Falls, New York. During his time there, he assisted in the opening of the company's third gaming resort, and later oversaw all three of the company's gaming properties, which feature a total of 6,500 slots, 140 table games, and 816 hotel rooms.
An expert in the management of Four-Diamond casino properties, Hansberry will be charged with growing Agua Caliente's customer base and increasing revenue. His expertise will be an enormous asset in expanding the casino's reach and market share. "I look forward to getting to know the Coachella Valley," Hansberry said "and continuing the Agua Caliente tradition of delivering a great product and superior customer service."

PALM SPRINGS, CA (July 20, 2010) – The Steakhouse restaurants at Agua Caliente Casino • Resort • Spa in Rancho Mirage and Spa Resort Casino in downtown Palm Springs have each been honored with this year's "Wine Spectator Award for Excellence."
It is the sixth consecutive "Wine Spectator Award for Excellence" received by The Steakhouse at Spa Resort Casino, which offers 295 varieties and an inventory of over 2,700 bottles of wine. The Steakhouse at Agua Caliente Casino garnered its fourth award this year, offering guests 345 varieties and an inventory of 4,460.
The annual Wine Spectator awards recognize outstanding wine programs that offer what the magazine calls a "well-chosen selection of quality [wine] producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style."
"We've worked very hard to create a wine list with depth and variety, as well as quality producers," said Fred Pearson, director of food and beverage at Spa Resort Casino.
Sandy Josephson, director of food and beverage at Agua Caliente, agreed saying, "the right wine with a gourmet meal can make a great dinner spectacular; our menu at The Steakhouse is fantastic, and so our wine list must be equally so."
Both restaurants' strengths were in California varietals.
